Cookies. When you visit our website, we use cookies to allow you to move quickly through our site, to allow you to take advantage of some of the Site's password-protected features, and to collect information about your use of the Site. Cookies also benefit you by creating a more streamlined login process and keeping track of your language of choice between sessions, among other things. As we enable further customization of the site, cookies will help in assuring that the information provided to you will be relevant to your needs.
A cookie is a string of information that is sent by a website and stored on your hard drive or temporarily in your computer's memory. Cookies are small files and won't pose any significant disk-space concerns. You can manage which cookies are set on your device using the cookie menu on this Site and on your Web browser, but doing so may materially affect the functionality of this Site and the information you can access through it. To learn more about cookies and browser functionality, search for "cookies" in the help function of your browser.
Other Technologies. Like many websites, we may use standard Internet technology, such as web beacons, site tags, clear GIFs, and other similar technologies, to collect and maintain information about your web-surfing activity when you are visiting this Site, other Kaplan sites, as well as other non-Kaplan sites. We also may include web beacons or pixel tags in connection with some Site pages and HTML-formatted email messages to, among other things, compile aggregate statistics about Site usage and response rates. A pixel tag is an electronic image, often a single pixel that is ordinarily not visible to Site visitors and may be associated with cookies on the visitors’ hard drive. Pixel tags allow us to count users who have visited certain pages of the Site, to deliver branded services, and to help determine the effectiveness of promotional or advertising campaigns.
Artificial Intelligence (AI). To enhance your experience, we use AI to interact with you in our services or products for different business purposes such as to authenticate identity, to generate content, to analyze nuanced interactions, to adapt learning and assessment materials in real time, to customize modules or services to consumer behaviors, and to chat with consumers. As you engage with us, you will be made aware if AI is providing outputs in an automated fashion. We do not ask for, and you should not share, any sensitive data into the AI tools. The AI tools are developed to create dynamic learning and career journeys, support engagement with content and promote mastery of topics. Our trusted third-party AI vendors are prohibited from using the data shared with them for unauthorized purposes.
Do-Not-Track Disclosures. Some web browsers may transmit “do-not-track” (DNT) or Global Privacy Control (GPC) signals to the websites with which the user communicates. Because of differences in how web browsers incorporate and activate this feature, it is not always clear whether users intend for these signals to be transmitted, or whether they even are aware of them. Through its vendor OneTrust, Kaplan honors DNT and GPC signals in all US states. Globally, Kaplan will interpret the browser "do not track" signal as an opt-out signal of the sale of personal information to the US Privacy API.
For more information on “do-not-track” and Global Privacy Control, visit http://www.allaboutdnt.com and https://globalprivacycontrol.org/.
Please review these SMS Terms and Conditions (the “SMS Terms”) carefully. By signing up for a text program or registering your phone number(s) with Kaplan or otherwise agreeing to receive text messages from or on behalf of Kaplan, you agree to these SMS Terms.
How to Opt Out and Get Help: To stop receiving text messages from Kaplan, you may reply STOP to the number sending the message. After replying STOP, you may receive additional communications confirming that your request has been received and processed, and you may continue to receive text messages for a short period while your request is processed. If you need further assistance, text HELP to the number sending the message, or contact customer service 850-231-1140. In all cases, consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services. Message and data rates may apply. Message frequency will vary but will be generally four to six messages per month.
Opting into Text Messages: By opting into any text program, you expressly consent to receive recurring text messages that may be sent using an automatic telephone dialing system, by or on behalf of Kaplan, at the cell phone number you provide us. By voluntarily providing your cell phone number to Kaplan, you consent to receive marketing, transactional, operational, or informational text messages at that phone number. Please note we may not be able to deliver messages to all mobile carriers. Consent to receive texts is not a condition of purchasing any goods or services, and you understand and agree that all text messages may be sent using automated technology.
Major Participating Carriers: Major mobile carriers are supported. Mobile carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
Cost: Message and data rates may apply for any messages sent to you from or on behalf of Kaplan, and messages you send to us. If you have any questions about your text plan or data plan, it is best to contact your wireless provider.
Eligibility and Change in Phone Number: By providing your cell phone number to Kaplan, you warrant that you are at least 18 years of age (or the age of majority in your state) or older. You further warrant that you are the current subscriber or authorized user of the phone number you have provided. You agree that you will not initiate messages to the mobile phone of any other person or entity without authorization. If you change, forfeit, or deactivate the phone number you have provided to Kaplan, you agree to notify Kaplan immediately. Failure to do so constitutes a material breach of these SMS Terms.
We keep personal information for as long as needed to do business with you, carry out the purposes described in this Policy, comply with our legal obligations, resolve disputes, and enforce our agreements.
How long we keep a given piece of information depends on the nature and length of our relationship with you, our legal rights and obligations (including any required retention periods), and whether we have an ongoing business need for it, such as communicating with you about Services you have requested or are considering.
We use commercially reasonable measures designed to protect personal information from accidental loss and from unauthorized access, use, alteration, and disclosure. Still, no internet transmission or electronic storage is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee the security of information sent to us or stored on our systems.
The Website may contain links to websites and services run by third parties. We are not responsible for their content or privacy practices, and any personal information you give them is handled under their privacy policies. Please review those policies before sharing your information. Please note that if you wish to use products or services from other Kaplan businesses, you may be required to agree to additional privacy policies before accessing the service.
We also link to our social media pages, such as Facebook and Instagram. Anything you post on those platforms is governed by their terms of use and privacy policies.
The Website is hosted in the United States and targeted to Florida residents who wish to enroll in Ohana. If you access it from outside the United States, and where permitted by law, your personal information may be transferred to the United States or other countries whose data protection laws may not be considered as protective as those where you live. We make these transfers only as needed for the purposes described in this Policy.
The Florida Digital Bill of Rights (FDBR) grants Florida residents several rights related to their personal data. Consumers have the right to:
Access. You may request access to, and a copy of, personal information we have about you.
Deletion. You may ask us to delete personal information we collected or received about you, subject to certain exceptions.
Correction. You may ask us to correct inaccurate personal information, subject to certain exceptions.
Opt-out. You may opt out of (a) processing of your personal information for targeted advertising, (b) the sale or sharing of your personal information, (c) certain uses of sensitive personal information, and (d) profiling in furtherance of decisions that produce legal or similarly significant effects. We only use sensitive personal information for purposes permitted by law and do not engage in that type of profiling, so we do not offer an option to limit the use of sensitive personal information or to opt out of profiling.
Objection and restriction. In some circumstances, you may object to our processing of your personal information or ask us to restrict it.
Withdrawal of consent. Where we rely on your consent, you may withdraw it.
Automated decision-making. You may have the right to know when you are subject to automated decision-making, what personal information was used, and the principal factors and parameters behind the decision, and to request human review or correction of the decision or the underlying data where appropriate. In some places, you may also be able to consent to or opt out of this type of decision-making.
Complaints. You may lodge a complaint with a supervisory authority or other regulator if you believe we have violated your rights under applicable data protection laws. We ask that you contact us first so we can try to resolve the issue.
To exercise your rights, email dataprivacy@ohanapreparatoryschool.org. You can also exercise opt-out rights through an opt-out preference signal such as the Global Privacy Control (GPC), which we honor. The signal must be turned on in each browser or browser extension you use.
Requests may be submitted by you, by an authorized agent acting for you, or by a parent or guardian for a minor child. We need to verify your identity before we can act on a request and may ask for more information to do so. An authorized agent must also verify their own identity and may need to provide written authorization or a power of attorney. We will respond within the time required by applicable law. If we need more time, we will let you know in writing, along with the reason and the length of the extension.
Exercising your rights will not lead to discrimination of any kind. That said, if you withdraw consent, object to processing, or decline to give us certain information, we may not be able to provide some or all of the Services.
We may deny a request, or grant it only in part, as the law permits or requires. If you have a right to appeal our decision, we will explain the appeal process in our response.
We do not knowingly collect or solicit personal information from children, as defined under applicable law, without verified written consent from a parent or guardian. If we find that we have collected a child’s personal information without that consent, we will promptly take steps to delete it. If you think we may have this kind of information, please contact us at dataprivacy@ohanapreparatoryschool.org.
We may update this Policy from time to time. The “Last Updated” date above shows when it was last changed. If we make material changes to how we handle personal information, we will give notice as required by law. Unless stated otherwise, changes take effect as soon as they are posted on the Website, so please check this Policy periodically.
